THE BEAUTY OF THE OCEAN 🌊

Oceans cover more than two-thirds of the Earth. It is home to millions of animals and plants, from tiny plankton to giant whales. Oceans provide us with food, oxygen and water for rain. They also help regulate the planet's temperature. The ocean is a shelter for various aquatic species like whales, sharks, ornamental fishes. And the five oceans of the world are the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Antarctic Ocean. "World Ocean Day" falls on June 8 every year to protect our oceans. Billions of pounds of trash and other pollutants enter the ocean every year.  Some debris ends up on our beaches, washing up with the waves and tides.  Some debris sinks. Some are mistaken for food and eaten by marine animals. There are several forms of ocean pollution. Dumping waste from factories into water, dumping garbage into streams etc.  Protecting the ocean is important for the future of our planet.

  S ri Lankan culture is one of the few countries with a very large and rich cultural diversity. The culture is very unique and thus reflects the Sri Lankan identity. Sri Lankan culture includes more than 2000 years old customs, rituals and people's way of life.                            My university is the University of Visual and Performing Arts. It is located near Nelum Pokuna, Colombo. It is the best university for my field of dance. I worked very hard to choose this university for my high school. Finally I got into this university. I love this so much. Now I am studying dance. It is the only university in Sri Lanka that offers only special degree programs in visual and performing arts. I think that my university will help me a lot for a better future.  I respect my university.

All the Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate this festival. It teaches us to forget the past and move forward. People wish each other with joy and smile.  Local dance is a very important part of Sri Lankan culture.  From time immemorial, dance has been used not only for entertainment, but also as a form of ritual, devotion, and emotional expression.  Even today, traditional dance is considered a high symbol of Sri Lankan culture. There are three main traditional dance traditions in Sri Lanka.  Upcountry dance tradition   Lowland dance tradition   Sabaragamu dance tradition   Each tradition has its own movements, costumes, drums and cultural background.   Upland dance  Upland dance is popular in Udunuwara, Yatinuvara, Hewahata, Satkorale, Satarakorale etc. Although it originated in Udara, today Udara dance is practiced all over the country. MY SCHOOL πŸ«πŸ‘©‍🏫

My school name is St.Joshep's Girls' College Gampola. It has many buildings and 3 large playgrounds. These playgrounds are used for playing football, volleyball and netball. There is also an extensive computer lab for students. Not only that, there are 2 libraries with lots of books, students can read any book during their library time. We have many kind, intelligent and friendly teachers who help us learn. Every morning all the students gather for the morning assembly and sing the national anthem and the school anthem. I had many friends at school. Our school has not only sports and core subjects but also aesthetic subjects. I dropped out of school after high school and with the help of these school teachers I passed the exam and got into university. My teachers really helped me to pass all these exams.   History of tea 🌱☕️ The story of tea in Sri Lanka began two hundred years ago. British rule was largely enforced and in 1824 the first tea plant was brought to Ceylon. It came from China and was planted in the Royal Botanic Gardens , Peradeniya for non-commercial purposes. The cultivation and production of tea in Sri Lanka started during the British era. The story of Ceylon Tea begins with coffee . This means that coffee cultivation existed in this country before tea cultivation started. Around 1870, the coffee plantations were destroyed by a fungal disease. Later all the coffee growers shifted to tea production and cultivation.  In 1824, the British brought a tea plant from China to Ceylon and later tea cultivation spread throughout the island. My favorite holiday destination is Kandy. Kandy is full of fragrance and color with many places. This city has a valuable history. Actually im pleasure to say that I also live in Kandy District.
