NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
New Year π is a time for us to say goodbye ππ» to the old years and start a new beginningπ.
New Year is a symbol of new hope and happiness.
All the Sinhala and Tamil people celebrate this festival.
It teaches us to forget the past and move forward.
People wish each other with joy and smile.
When the clock strikes midnight π, all the people cheer π»π₯, fireworks light up the sky π, hug each otherπ« and celebrate the beginning of a new beginning.
The New Year festival is usually celebrated on April 13 or 14 π.
The festival is marked by two official public holidays.
All the people of Sri Lanka Lighting oil lamps πͺ , Good luck cooking , Sweet making ππ₯¨, Ritual head oil bathπ, Visiting to relations homes π‘.
All Sinhalese people make special sweets.They are kokis, cakes, cakes, alua, panivellu, desserts etc.
Not only that there are many new year programmes arranging in many places.that is very enjoyable programme. Because it has many games to play everyone.Such as,
- Spot the elephants
- Lime and spoon race
- Blasting balloons
- Braking pot
- Bun eating contest
- Catching water balloons or eggs
- Musical chairs
- New year king and queen
VESAK CELEBRATION
Vesak is a religious festival in Sri Lanka.
It is celebrated by Buddhist people all over the worldπ.
This is why Vesak, which celebrates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Lord Buddha, is important to Buddhists.
This is celebrated in the month of Mayπ.
During Vesak, people decorate their homes and streets with colorful lanterns πͺ and lights.
The temple was full of people who came to pray and offer flowers.
A special feature of the Vesak festival is the Vesak basketsπͺ , which are made of paper and bamboo. At night they light up and look very beautiful.
Another is pantheonπ. These are large and bright displays showing stories about the life of Lord Buddha.
Vesak brings people together in peace and harmony.
